About Angela Spease

Angela Spease with Husband and Community

Angela Spease is a dedicated community leader and local businesswoman from Elk Grove.

Angela and her husband Kevin, an Air Force veteran, started their first business, ISSE Services in 2005. The company provides cybersecurity expertise to a number of private and public-sector clients, including the Department of Defense. Since entering the cybersecurity field in the early 90’s, Angela has worked with clients and professionals all over the world. With over 10 years in business and nearly 2 decades of experience in cybersecurity and information technology, Angela and her team have worked to grow their small business, create jobs, and contribute the local economy.

Angela’s second business, Spease Bees, was started by mistake a few years back. A beekeeper’s truck broke down in front of the Spease’s property, and seeing the area’s potential, asked to move his hives to the property in exchange for honey – at that point, the business was born. Spease Bees Honey Company now sells their products in over 80 local markets and restaurants, with 10% of all sales going to local charity.

In addition to running the business, serving her community is equally important to Angela. As a dedicated Rotarian, Angela has served in various leadership positions with Elk Grove’s Laguna Sunrise Rotary, including Assistant Governor for Rotary in the greater Sacramento area. In addition to leadership, Angela’s work in Rotary has revolved around supporting youth through programs aimed at promoting literacy, scholarship, mentorship, and more. One program Angela helped launch has transitioned over 30 foster youth from emancipation to independent living.

Angela’s service to her community doesn’t stop with Rotary. She also served as a committee member at the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce and in volunteer positions with Relay for Life, Runnin’ for Rhett, and the Elk Grove Multicultural Festival. She is also a co-founder and treasurer for The Arts Advocacy Project (TAAP) in Elk Grove and Treasurer for the Asian Resources Community Services Board.

Taking her proven community leadership abilities along with her experience as a business owner, Angela is now running for SMUD Board of Directors Ward 4. As a community volunteer and leader, she is a proven problem solver who will work on behalf of ratepayers and residents to deliver the highest levels of service and quality.

A graduate of the University of Maryland, Angela has a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Organizational Management. Angela lives in Elk Grove with her husband Kevin. Their son Jeremy lives in Utah and also works for the family business.
